The date – Thursday, October 17th, 2013. The location – The Academy Showroom, 183-400 Bathurst Street. There I was pacing with anxiety at 6:43pm in my favourite Japanese Blue Jay T by Toronto line Shared, desperately waiting for the change room. Amanda from 1800 was getting changed; I let her in front of me, what was I thinking!? The party was about to begin and I needed to get proper. This was #CDNFSHN and we were celebrating the launch of the new PRODUCTTORONTO.COM with our great friends Christopher Bates and The Academy Showroom.Website-Launch-Product-Toronto-Academy-Showroom-Christopher-Bates-8

I got the basics on and ran across the space, my eye catching every amazing detail the team had put into making the night so amazing. From liquid nitrogen clouds spilling in the back corner with the guys from Ice Cream Volcano to trays of TeaLCHEMY1800 Tequila cocktails in a brilliant red with floating tarragon.  I made my way across to the back office. There, I unzipped and revealed the absolutely stunning new suit Christopher had just made for me. A tailored, Italian wool, black & blue piece of heaven. After regaining consciousness, I got up and went into the showroom.

Our guests began to arrive. I glanced around the exquisite 4,000 sq ft Academy Showroom, designed to perfection by Matthew and Rick. Everyone was on point. Delicious eats and brilliant bites by Kitchen Cargo & me.N.U. – CHECK! Sweet macarons by Sugar & Scotch, YAY! Perfectly poured glasses of Fifth Leg Wines, Nice! Smooth, ice cold PRAVDA Vodka Bar (with pickles and pumpernickel) – DAMN$#! Impeccably dressed mannequins wearing Christopher Bates and holding PRODUCT magazines – WOOT WOOT $%@! So many incredible Toronto PRODUCTs in one glorious room, and then we went ahead and invited 300 more. Fashion Industry and Media arrived in style, not a single one disheveled by the rain. Highrise Pictures was there to catch it all for PRODUCTTORONTO.COM, and our wonderful team of PRODUCT photographers was on a mission to capture all that #CDNFSHN.

The night wore on. It was lovely to see everyone engaging with friends, new and old. Brett Millius performed first and got the crowd dancing as they mingled throughout. Oliver Pigott brought love a bit later and amazed us as usual. Ada Dahli finished us off with her soul and perfection. As guests reluctantly abided by our liquor license, they were treated to their favourite issue of PRODUCT, a refreshing bottle of AQUAhydrate and a VIP ticket to the Gourmet Food & Wine Expo on November 14th in Toronto. Thank you to our lovely guests and the entire team for a spectacular event.
